New Lanark is nestled in the pictureque Clyde Valley in Central Scotland, less than an hour from Edinburgh and Glasgow, with easy transport links by car/coach, train and bus.

Car

New Lanark is around an hour's drive from Glasgow (25 miles/40 kms) or Edinburgh (35 miles/56 Kms) and is well sign-posted from all major routes. Postcode for SatNav. ML11 9BY Please Note: Some online route planners and Sat Nav devices give directions to enter New Lanark via The Beeches. However this country track is NOT recommended for vehicles. Please follow brown road signs which will direct you to New Lanark via Hyndford Road. Parking is not permitted in the Village unless you are a blue badge holder or guest of the hotel. New Lanark is a living and working village, and supporting our villagers and local environment are very important to us. Day visitors to the site will need to park in the visitor car park at the top of the hill. This is charged at £3 per day. The car park is managed by a 3rd party company and New Lanark is not involved with the daily operation. Bus

There is a bus service between Buchanan Bus Station in Glasgow and Lanark. Details of this service are available by calling Stuart's Coaches on freecall 01555 773533. Please note this service does not run on a Sunday. Train

2 trains run every hour (1 every hour on Sundays) from Glasgow Central or Motherwell to Lanark railway station (1.5 miles/2.5 km from New Lanark). Local buses and taxis are then available at the bus stance, adjacent to Lanark Railway station and Lanark Visit Scotland Information Centre. Accessibility

New Lanark Visitor Centre welcomes everyone. However, the location of the historic Village in a steep-sided valley beside the Falls of Clyde, though picturesque, is not ideal terrain for wheelchair-users and visitors with limited or restricted mobility.
