Create Your Own Stained Glass Decoration at New Lanark
Looking for a creative day out this winter? Join glass artists Stephanie Whatley of Biggar Glass Works and Tim Kirman for a hands-on copper foil workshop at New Lanark Visitor Centre.
Perfect for beginners, these friendly workshops will introduce you to the art of stained glass using the copper foil technique. You’ll learn how to cut, grind, foil and solder glass, creating a beautiful piece to take home while gaining the skills and confidence to continue this rewarding craft yourself.
Workshops run from 9.30am to 12 noon and 1pm to 3pm, with a break for lunch. Why not make a day of it and enjoy lunch in the New Lanark Mill Café? Overlooking the historic village and the River Clyde, the café serves a selection of freshly prepared sandwiches, homemade soups, light lunches, cakes and hot drinks. As a workshop attendee, you’ll also receive 15% off food and drinks in the Mill Café, making it the perfect place to relax and recharge during your lunch break.

During this workshop, you’ll create three elegant stained glass mistletoe decorations, perfect for adding a handcrafted touch to your Christmas décor or giving as thoughtful gifts.
You’ll learn the fundamentals of copper foil work, including cutting, grinding, foiling and soldering glass, while gaining practical knowledge on materials, equipment and safe working practices.
