As part of Discover Lanark’s Storytelling Festival this October, we’re celebrating the New Lanark Oral History Archive by sharing existing stories, encouraging conversations about Mill and Village life, and collecting new memories and experiences for future generations!

Come along to Robert Owen’s School for Children on Sunday 25th of October and…

Immerse yourself in New Lanark’s past with a short film blending Voices of the Village from our oral history archive. This 10-minute film has been curated by our very own research volunteers!

Take part in storytelling sessions in our Historic Classroom with our volunteers.

• Grab some tea-and-cake space and sit and have a chat and share memories of New Lanark with pieces from our archive
• Have a chat with our genealogy researcher about our People of New Lanark tree – a genealogy database of over 3000 people connected to New Lanark…
• Take part in an interactive storytelling activity station, inspired by collection objects such as Lizzie Meek’s recipe book, early 20th century games and objects. 

If you have a story to share, come along and tell it! We will be offering recording time slots throughout the day for those of you who want to share your New Lanark story!

(Recording time slots will be filled on a first-come basis, but you can fill out an expression of interest form for a future interview)
