New Lanark will host a range of activities throughout the year in support of the Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology. The main focus in the first half of the year will be around World Heritage Day, with activities taking place 16th – 18th April. The events will conclude on
SCAN - Shining Live Scanathon - Monday 17th April

Time: 11am - 4pm
Location: River Room, Institute for the Formation of Character
Shining Lives will be a spectacular sound, light and projection event taking place on 20th & 21st October. On Monday 17th April, New Lanark are inviting people to bring in their photographs and stories of people who worked in the industries of New Lanark, Lanark and the Clyde Valley to be recorded at our ‘scanathon’. These will be scanned and then incorporated into the New Lanark archive and may be projected onto our historic buildings as part of Shining Lives!

DIG - Mantilla Row Archaeological "Dig"
Join us for an archaeological dig at the site of Mantilla Row - an original Millworkers tenement that was demolished in 1988. Help unearth historic material that could provide further insight into the history of New Lanark. Dates to be confirmed.
KNIT New Lanark - Scotland in Six - Tuesday 18th April
Grab your knitting needles and craft supplies and celebrate World Heritage Day with Dig It! 2017 through yarnbombing, taster sessions, interactive workshops and plenty of tea.
