Family Tours with Costumed Guide
11.30 & 2pm daily (16th - 22nd October)
Explore New Lanark with one of our costumed character guides and discover some amazing insights into the history of the site. What was a piecer? How were Robert Owen and David Dale related? Why did the workers wear no shoes? Join us to find out! Tours included in a Visitor Attraction ticket which can be bought online or paid for at the New Lanark Visitor Attraction Reception. Places are limited per tour. Tours leave from Visitor Centre reception. Places must be reserved in advance at the New Lanark Reception Desk.
Victorian Toy Workshops
3.15pm daily (16th - 22nd October)
Swap Gameboys for Gird and Cleeks! Children will have great fun at our Victorian Toy Workshops where they can learn and play with a range of historic toys. Hosted in the Historic Classroom by one of the New Lanark Guiding Team. Suitable for ages 3-10. £2 per child. Places are limited per workshop. Tickets must be purchased in advance via the New Lanark Reception Desk.
New Lanark Visitor Centre
With the colder weather setting in October is the perfect month to enjoy many of the indoor attractions of the New Lanark Visitor Centre. From the Annie McLeod Experience to the Historic Classroom, you can easily spend a day exploring our site and learning about the fascinating history of our village. If you GiftAid your admission price you can even get your hands on a New Lanark Unlimited Card which lets you visit for free for 12 months!
Lifting the Lid Exhibition
Join us on a culinary crusade of Scotland's past! Lifting the Lid brings together images from the National Library of Scotland and objects from collections across Lanarkshire to look at the story of Scotland's relationship with food and drink over the centuries. Open daily until 12th November. Included in a Visitor Attraction ticket or £3 per person.
Autumn walks to the Falls of Clyde
A woodland walk in the Falls of Clyde Wildlife Reserve is glorious at all times of year, but perhaps none more so than in Autum when the leaves are beginning to turn from bright green to golden reds and browns.
The New Lanark Mill Café is open 7 days a week serving up a range of snacks, hot meals, hot drinks, home baking and scones. Don't miss our very own New Lanark Ice Cream in the New Lanark Mill Café!
New Lanark Mill Shop - BIG Christmas Shopping Day (26th October)
Christmas is starting to arrive in the Mill Shop so it's the perfect time to pick up some early presents, and Join us in the beautiful Mill Shop for our first BIG Christmas Shopping Day of the year and enjoy 15% off everything in store, festive fizz and nibbles! 9-8pm. Free entry and free parking.
Interactive Gallery Soft Play
Perfect for rainy days! Explore a multi-sensory experience of sound, light and colour. Situated in Robert Owen's School for Children, The Interactive Gallery is a 21st century playroom which reflects Owen's progressive ideas of infant education with the themes of environment, art and music. Entry to the Interactive Gallery is £3.25 per child and valid only on date of purchase. This price allows play for up to 2 hours. Under 1's go free.
